Brent L. Maxfield

January 9, 1950 — September 18, 2023

Mountain View

Brent L. Maxfield, 73, of Mt. View Wyoming, passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on September 18, 2023, after a short, but courageous battle with cancer.  Brent was born on January 9, 1950, in Evanston Wyoming to Keith and Leatha Maxfield.  He was the youngest of 9 children.  Brent graduated from Lyman High School in 1968 and attended Utah State University before returning home to run the family dairy farm in Lyman.

Brent met the love of his life, Janet Kaye Condos Maxfield at Sunday school in Lyman. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple on June 8, 1973.  They had 3 children that he loved with his whole heart.  Later, they were blessed with 6 grandkids who were the light of his life.  There was nothing more important to him in this world than his grandkids. He loved following them around to their many activities, being part of their adventures, and just sitting and visiting with them.  Brent loved sports, camping, fishing, four wheeling and anything outdoors. He enjoyed being with his family and wanted to be wherever they were.  Brent was game for just about anything, as long as it didn’t involve water. That was until the grandkids convinced him to get in the boat and even try snorkeling. He loved spending time in his garden and taking care of his lawn.  Brent loved music and was a very talented piano and organ player.  He loved to dance, especially with Janet. Their kids would always catch them sneaking in a dance in the living room.

Brent loved life and always made the most of every day he had.  He was patient, kind hearted, and spent his life serving others by putting their needs before his own. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. His favorite was being a ward organist.

Brent is survived by his wife of 50 years, Janet, his 3 children, Alicia (Dale) Elwood of Hyde Park, Utah; Kerri (Bradon) Sabey of Lyman, Wyoming; and Todd (Alison) Maxfield of Cody, Wyoming; 6 grandchildren; Makinna and Macie Elwood, Braxton and Karly Sabey, and Kamryn and Austin Maxfield, his three sisters Renella Bluemel, Ruth Shelton and Glenys Birch, and step father in law Gary Gaylord along with many other family and friends.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Keith and Leatha,  and five siblings, Lawrence, Rulon, Beth, John and Everett.

Funeral services will be held Friday September 22, 2023, at 11 am at the Bridger Valley Stake Center. There will be a viewing Thursday, September 21, 2023, from 6 to 8pm and the morning of the funeral from 9:30-10:45. . Interment will take place at the Lyman cemetery.
