He was born April 7, 1938 to Blaine and Louise Hansen. He was the second of four children.
He was raised in Palmyra, Utah and attended schools in Spanish Fork, graduating from Spanish Fork High School in 1956. During high school, he enjoyed basketball, track, and FFA. He served an LDS mission in the Hawaiian Islands with his twin brother. He learned to know and love the Hawaiian people. He graduated from BYU with a double major in Chemistry and Zoology. He married Kathleen Peery in the Salt Lake LDS temple in 1963. He went on to graduate from Case Western Reserve in Cleveland, OH, earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. Upon graduation, he moved to Florida and eventually back home to Spanish Fork. He was active in the Utah Dental Association, serving as Treasurer, Secretary, President Elect and President.

Brent was very ambitious. His idea of fun was work. He loved working in his profession as a dentist, as a farmer, and providing for his family and many others. He was well known for his free dentistry to missionaries, family members, friends, students, or anyone in need.
He loved spending time at his cabin in Hobble Creek, numerous trips to Disneyland and Disney World, returning to his beloved Hawaii, watching and bragging about his grandchildren as they perform in school programs, sporting events, or anything in which they were involved. He was an avid Spanish Fork Don and BYU fan.
He is survived by his spouse, Kathleen, his children Brent (Michelle), Natalie, Cynthia, Loreen (Jeff), and Alece Nelson (Gary), his 12 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, his sister Lorraine Olsen, and twin brother Kent Hansen (Sylvia).
