Our dear Mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Bonne Bair Lewis Littledike passed away peacefully on November 8, 2022 due to conditions incident to her over 100 years of a life of service.
She is survived by her brother, Warren (Reita) Lewis,Colorado Springs, her “boys”, Kay (Kaye) Littledike of Draper, Utah, Terry (Denise) Littledike Melba, Idaho, and Dan (Marcene) Littledike Kamas, Utah, along with 17 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Don M. Littledike, and one great great grandchild, Rosie Dru. And, by her sister, Faye Theurer and sister in law, Elba Coloma Lewis.
She was born on December 31, 1921 in Richmond, Utah to Cyrus Lewis and Edna Lucinda Bair. She grew up in Richmond and graduated from North Cache High School after which she entered nurse training. She met and fell in love with Don M. Littledike upon his return from WWII. They were married in Pocatello, Idaho on March 15, 1946, and later that November 15, 1946 they were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple for time and eternity.
They took up residence in Trenton, Utah. While there, she worked at the Budge Clinic in Logan, Utah, and at the Logan Regional Hospital. The couple moved to Smithfield, Utah after the birth of their 3rd son, where she worked at the Smithfield Clinic for Doctors Ed and Bob Budge. She worked there for many years until the time of her retirement, utilizing her extraordinary gifts of caring, kindness, and love to serve people with every type of injury and illness, all while raising three extremely active boys.
Mom served in various callings in the Church throughout her life, but the one that stands out is Ward Relief Society President. Her boys soon learned that not all the wonderful smells coming from her kitchen were meant for them. If there was a family in need, or a new child born, or someone sick or injured, we were given the opportunity to accompany her to their home to present her gifts of love and caring.
Her home was a comfortable home where all who entered were greeted with warm hearts and the intoxicating smells that came from her kitchen causing one to ask, “what’s cookin?’ “ She could cook to perfection deer, elk, trout, duck, geese, and pheasant, which she had an ample supply of courtesy of Don and company.
Her main interest was her family. She could be seen at sporting events, school plays, choir concerts, etc. Whatever her boys were doing she supported them up to and including missions and marriages and families. Holidays were always a special event at her home.
Mom and dad had many special friends that they spent time dancing and singing with. She has a beautiful alto voice. They went on many fishing and golfing and camping trips with these friends, most of whom were in local service clubs with them.
She will be remembered for her quick wit and sense of humor, and for her direct approach to solving life’s problems. She never talked about people behind their back. If you wanted to know what she thought, just ask her. She would give it to you straight and without guile. She would tell you what you needed to hear, which wasn’t always what you wanted to hear. It was a great loving gift.
She greeted every day with warmth and happiness as she would rise, do her hair, get dressed, and go see who needed her today. She has taught us all what it means to endure to the end with honor and integrity and joyous love.
The family would like to thank the staff of Elk Meadows for the kind care they showed her. Also, a special thanks to Audrey Stembridge and her IHC Hospice team who cared so lovingly for her. But, the biggest thanks is to Dan and Marcene and their family for all the years of love and care.. Thank you.
