Bernice Walker

May 10, 1926 — December 26, 2018

Bernice Walker
Lyman Wyoming.

Our precious and darling mother, Bernice Rasmussen Walker of Lyman, Wyoming, passed away peacefully and quietly on Wednesday, December 26, 2018. She was 92 years old.

Every moment of her life was spent loving her children, family, and sweetheart Claude.  She loved being a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great- grandmother.

Bernice was born May 10, 1926 in Robertson Wyoming, the last of 7 children born to George A. Rasmussen and Helen Hinshaw Rasmussen, she was often spoiled by her elder siblings.  She grew up in Robertson on her family's ranch, and often would share her memories of her wonderful childhood, and the love she felt for her siblings and parents.

Bernice married Claude Walker on June 24, 1944 in Evanston, Wy at Bishop Price's House.  The young couple started life out in Lyman, shortly after Claude took a job in LaBarge, Wyoming shearing sheep where they lived in a sheep camp and Bernice was the camp cook, a job that she thoroughly enjoyed.  Later their adventures took them to Oklahoma where Claude worked for a seismograph company, and then onto California sheering sheep. Bernice would talk of their travels and the memories they made with fondness. They finally settled on a Ranch near Robertson to raise a family. They had 6 wonderful children together, although many others would refer to Bernice as their second mom.

Bernice worked in the lunchroom in Mountain view once again cooking for others.  Claude passed away in April of 2016 and our sweet mother and grandmother has missed him every single minute since, they truly had a story book love.  Bernice was a loyal member of the Willow Creek Club where she went to her last meeting this past week.  She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints, having held many callings in her ward and at Stake levels. She loved going to the hills with Claude and any adventure that he would come up with she was found by his side. She loved spending the evenings at the family property referred to as the head gate. She loved to cook, bake and in her younger years could be found serving others.

Bernice will always be remembered for her loving patience, her wonderful and sweet personality, her commitment to the gospel, and her deep devotion to her family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her because to know her was to love her.  We are rejoicing with her now as she is with her beloved husband and family members that have gone before her.

She is survived by her 6 children Cheryl (John ) Eyre, Lyman.  Rudy (Clara) Walker, Ft. Bridger,  Kim (Jerrilynn) Walker, Mt. View,  Lynne (Shane) Beckstead, Idaho Falls, Rick Walker Ft. Bridger, Lori (Doyle) Fredrickson, Lyman, and a Sister Alice Marie "Rea" Huntington. 16 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.  She is preceded in death By  her parents, her sweetheart Claude, 1 infant child, 1 grandchild, 3 brothers, and 2 sisters.
