Barbara Sargent

September 23, 1940 — February 5, 2023

On a frosty morning, The Angel of the Kamas Prairie, felt the full force of freedom as she slipped from the pain and confines of her failing body. She glanced back at those she loved and was leaving behind, the trees she had planted so many years ago, and like the falling leaves she so loved, softly slipped thru the veil to greet those who had gone before.

Barbara was the daughter of Alan William (Bud) Pitt and Nettie LaVon Gibbons Pitt of Kamas Utah, a wife to John William Sargent for 64 years, mother of twelve children, Grannie and Great Grannie to family and strangers alike. All were welcomed into her home, and no one ever went hungry if she had anything to do with it.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and enjoyed her time serving as a Seminary Teacher, working in the Temple and numerous other church callings, especially working with the youth and going to Young Womens Camp.

She was proud of her service as a volunteer Paramedic, Instructor and serving on the State Emergency Board. She cherished the friendships she made and the many adventures they had together. Her service as a EMT extended beyond the 911 calls to neighbors and friends who knocked on her door asking her advice about broken arms and if a cut needed stitches. She was always willing to help and serving the community was her joy.

She loved to travel and no matter how often she went to the beach, she never got enough. She collected sand and seashells and loved to sit in the ocean and let the waves splash around her. She planned yearly family trips to Bear Lake orchestrating the reservation and assignment of camp sites, distribution of graham crackers, marshmellows and chocolate bars for smores like a Five Star General. She never said no to a good hot dog roast and she's probably already arranging one in Heaven. We Love and miss you Mom!

She is survived by her Husband, Jack Sargent of Oakley, Children: Angela (Mike) Cummings of Kamas, UT, Marya (Chad) Wright of Coalville,UT, Lezlee (Mark) Goronson of Las Vegas, NV, Stewart Sargent of Oakley, UT, Brian (Jeni) of Oakley, UT, David (Clara) Sargent of Kamas, UT, Steven (Paula) Sargent of Vernal, UT, Paul (Ruby) Sargent of Peoa, UT, Jeff (Rashelle) Sargent of Francis, UT. Siblings: Linda Van Tassell, Shayne Pitt, Melonie Thomas and Bradley Pitt, and many well-loved and enjoyed Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents: Alan William (Nettie LaVon) Pitt, Children: Daymon Wade Sargent, Monica Sargent and Shawn Vincent Sargent. Sibling: Shirleen McAffee.
