Barbara Jean Larsen Johnson passed away June 24, 2016 at the Silverado Memory Care Community in Salt Lake City, Utah after a valiant struggle with Altzheimers and Parkinson's disease.
She was born into a loving home on April 28, 1950 in Rexburg, Idaho to Gerald Leland and Ora Steed Larsen. She was raise on a potato and Dairy farm in Salem, Idaho. After graduating from Sugar Salem High School in 1968 she attended Ricks College. While at Ricks, she met Van Craig Johnson. They were were married in the Idaho Falls, Idaho LDS Temple on August 8, 1969. To this union was born three sons and one daughter; Durk Van (Jane), Michael Brad (Renee'), Travis Osborn and Tonya (Ryan).
Barbara had many occupations. She worked as. Waitress during her college years and as a store clerk after she was married. She also kept books for businesses and was a substitute teacher. She owned and operated a preschool. She retired from Uinta County County School District number 1 in 2012.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She loved each calling she served in and fulfilled that calling with honor and love. Served a mission with her husband at the LDS Employment Resource Services at Welfare Square in Salt Lake City, Utah. She also served in the young women's and many times in the Relief Society which she dearly loved. Barbara had a talent to learn the names of the people she associated with, even the students, and remember those name for years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Maurine and two brother in laws. She is survived by sisters Dorothy and Ruth and brothers Winston, Blaine, Gary and Richard. She is also survived by her husband of 46 years and four children and 12 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday July 1, 2016 at 11am at the LDS Chapel located at 201 Sage Street, Evanston. A viewing will be held from 10am to 10:45 prior to the services. There is also a viewing the night before, June 30, at the 201 Sage Street Chapel from 7 to 8:30pm.
