Anne Wilson

May 6, 1918 — March 20, 2017

Annie Francis Wilson, nearly 99, died 20 March 2017 at her home in Kamas, Utah.

She was born 6 May 1918 in Lake Shore, Utah in a tiny adobe house built by her grandfather. Her parents were Joseph Archibald and Lovina Ursula Jones Francis. She is the eighth of 13 children.  Annie grew up working on the family farm, herding cows from pasture to the milk barn by the time she was five years old. She milked those cows every morning when she was a little older. She also worked long hot hours in the sugar beets and other farm chores required on a self-sustaining farm. She was a happy, mischievous girl who loved to be with friends. She also was raised in a large but loving family that was taught the gospel and how to work. In graduated in 1936 from Spanish Fork High School and moved to Southern California to be a mother’s helper for the wife of a movie producer.

On 10 December 1938, she married her handsome husband Woodrow R. Wilson, a city boy from California. They lived in several different cities in southern California and had four little girls. They moved back to Utah in 1945 while Woody served a few months in WWII and she raised over 1000 chickens and (now) five little girls under the age of six. In 1950 the family moved to Washington state where two more children were born. They lived in several more places, including Nevada and Wyoming until they moved back to Utah and settled on their daughter’s property in Kamas. There she helped raise her beloved youngest grandchild, Sean who she claims as her very own son.

Anne made lasting friends every place she lived. Her life was filled with service to her family and others. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many leadership positions. In August of 1977 she was sealed to her husband Woody in the Provo temple.

She loved needlework, collecting spoons, reading, creating scrapbooks, and saving every card and photo ever sent to her. She was an active member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers for over 50 years and served in leadership positions. She worked in the school lunch program for over 20 years and many still remember her delicious baked goods.  She was a faithful, hard-working, no-nonsense woman of integrity whose life was only to care and serve others. She taught her children to do what they say they are going to do and to do it right.

Anne is preceded in death by her daughter Judy (Garry) Treadwell, husband Woody, grandson Nathan Eshelman and 10 of her siblings.  She is survived by six of her children: Lorraine Eshelman, Fran (Walt) Wilson, Judy (Garry) Treadwell, Joan (Neil) Charter, Karen (Steve) Mannino, Deborah (George) Lambert, and Andrew (Kyoko) Wilson; 26 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, 25 March, at 11:00, at the Kamas Utah LDS Chapel, 100 West Center Street. A viewing will be Friday night from 6:00 to 8:00 and Saturday 10:00 to 10:45 prior to the service. Interment will be in the Marion Cemetery under the direction of Crandall Funeral Home, Kamas.

We give special thanks to ward members, friends, and the angel hospice caregivers Brittani and Justin from Encompass Hospice.
