Amy Eckert

Amy Kathleen McNeil Eckert, born September 13, 1926, departed her Earthly life on April 9, 2022.

Born in Francis, Utah Amy showed her spunky personality from a young age. Later living in Kamas, she became an alumni of South Summit High School graduating in 1945. Her driven personality led her to work for Sweets Candy until she met Harold Gene Eckert whose humor won her over. In 1958 they wed and together owned and operated a masonry and stone business. They later completed their family of four when they were surprised at birth with twins: Denny and Danny.

Amy was determined, strong-willed, and opinionated like no other, but she loved her family most. You could find her flower gardening, attending football games that her sons coached, and making addictive homemade grape jelly, pies, rolls, and more. Her pest control was a pistol, she was an active member of the L.D.S. church, and loved watching her “wrasels” (WWE Wrestling). She enjoyed rodeos and horses - especially her Old Blue - hummingbirds, Christmas decorations, and listening to Engelbert Humperdink. Her best friend was her sister Neva Paschal who she loved dearly and spoke to daily for over ninety years - even when on vacation.

She is survived by her sons, Denny (Patricia) and Danny (Gayle) Eckert; her sister Neva Paschal; her seven grandchildren: Reginald Eckert, Alisha (Tyson) Scow, Melanie (Ryan) Blackburn, Mark (Andy) Eckert), Gavin (Jess) Eckert, Mackenzie Turner, Emily (Gary) Turner; and her great grandchildren: Alexis, Gunner, Brandon, Taylee, and Rickie.

Amy is preceded by her parents, Lillian and Amos McNeil, her sister Erma Hendricks, and her great grandson Wyatt Eckert.

Family and friends will gather for a celebration of life at the Crestview L.D.S. Ward at 2795 Crestview Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah on Friday, April 15, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A graveside will follow in the Marion Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. under the direction of Crandall Funeral Home, Kamas, Utah. In Amy’s honor, please wear cowboy boots, a cowboy hat, bandana around your neck, bright colors, and/or large, abstract earrings.
