Alton Ray Dillon
March 23, 1948 – March 05,2014
My best friend, husband and lover left me behind today. I cannot follow him to where he is, but I hope the sun is shining and he has a horse under him.
He was born in Washington D.C. to Elizabeth and Ray Dillon. He did most of his growing up in Sheridan County, and has lived in Bridger Valley for the last 20 years.
He graduated from Arvada High school in 1968, then graduated from Denver Tech. He was a Vietnam Veteran. He served incountry as a helicopter mechanic and doorgunner. He had finally made peace with that time of his life. He was a master mechanic, from Briggs and Stratton to large diesel , and anything in between. He loved hotrodding Chevy engines, though he would occasionally condescend to work on a Ford. He left many projects behind that he had hoped to finally have time to do, as he had finally decided to retire in April.
He loved the outdoors, the mountains were his church. He has always had a horse as 4X4 transportation into the back of beyond. He loved to hunt, and fish and rock hound.
He leaves behind his wife Debbie, his mother Betty Hanson, his sister Wynona Gabbert, his ½ brother Albert and his children; Jonathon, his daughter Jennifer, and his son Michael and wife Shinobu, and his step son Mike Fox. He has also left his grandchildren Phillip, Hanna, Sola, and Umi behind. He had looked forward to spending more time with them. He also leaves behind his best friends Mike Apezeguia, Jack Voiles, Bill Suranyi, Steve Yates, Red Payne, and many more that know who they are, and many , many more that may not have known that he considered them friends.
He also leaves behind his lapcat Ford Fender, and his buddies moose, Goose, and Dinosaur, our mountain transportation.
He is leaving a hole in this life that will never be able to be filled.
A memorial service for Alton will be held on Friday, March 14, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. at the American Legion Hall in Fort Bridger, WY.
