Allen Arthur Hicks, a kind and loving man, passed away too soon at the age of 71 surrounded by
his family on Monday, August 22, 2022.
Allen was born on March 18, 1951, to Arthur Warren and Edna Mae (Taylor) Hicks in Evanston.
He grew up in Mountain View where he eventually met the love of his life Deanna Lynn
Erickson from Lyman, whom he married on June 10, 1972. They were blessed with two
children, a son Eric Allen and a daughter, Tiffani Lynn. This year they were excited to celebrate
their 50th wedding anniversary.
Allen worked as a surveyor for most of his life. He enjoyed camping, cutting wood, reading,
riding horses, wood working, and especially working with his son-in-law, Justin Horton. He loved spending
time with his family, especially his grandson, Garret.
Allen's joy of music began at an early age with him teaching himself to sing and play the guitar.
Music came easy and provided him the opportunity to form many great friendships and to
meet many talented people with whom he formed bands. With his love of music he has
provided memories for many around campfires, weddings, special events, jam sessions and
many other forms of gatherings. By singing from his heart, his ability to connect with people
brought joy not only to him, but everyone around him.
Allen is survived by his loving wife Deanna, son Eric Hicks, daughter Tiffani (Justin) Horton, a
grandson Garret Horton; a sister Mary Jean (Owen) Petersen. As well as several brother and
sister in laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a
sister Betty Jane Rinker.
Funeral services will be held at the Mountain View LDS Chapel Saturday, August 27, 2022, at
