Our brother and friend, Alfred Guy Smith, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2023, at the age of 67, in Provo, Utah surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest.
Alfred was born to Alfred Clarence Smith and Lucy Viola Tripp on January 19, 1956. He has two brothers, Steven Smith and Paul Smith, along with four sisters, Vicky Sweatfield, Becky Smith, Emily Smith, and Judy Stanworth.
Al grew up in Oakley, Utah. After graduating from South Summit High School, his family moved to Delta, Utah where he met and married Kathleen Ashby. Alfred proudly joined the US Army, moved to Washington State and brought Alfred Bryce Smith into the world. He and Kathy would later divorce.
After moving back to Delta, Al would often be found with his nose in a book, going on different road trips with his sister Emily, hanging with family at our annual reunions and he would often have a big cheesy grin while reading letters from his granddaughter Justine.
There were many wonderful aspects to Al’s life and many ways that he touched our lives. He will be remembered for his quick wit, laughter, and his love for his family. The “kid at heart” would always have him playing with his “favorite” nieces and nephews during family gatherings or participating in a family water fight.
He will be deeply missed by those who loved him, his friends, and his neighbors who enjoyed “shooting the breeze” with him. While we will miss you dearly, we know that you are not alone because your beloved Pouncer and Max greeted you eagerly at the “Rainbow Bridge.”
Alfred was preceded in death by his parents and baby sister.
