Alfred Arnold Brown, 84, currently of Evanston, Wyoming, died Sunday, December 15, 2013 after a 2 year battle with cancer.
He was born on February 4, 1929 in Coalville, Utah, the son of Alfred Wesley Brown and Ethelyn Arnold. He was raised in Coalville, Utah, where he acquired a good work ethic that started in the hay fields and continued into the Milking barns for his uncle. From the Fields he was employed in the local Grocery store, Paul’s Market, where he drove a 1924 Maxwell car to deliver groceries around Coalville, during his High School years. Alfred was active in the Scouting Program during these years and often boasted of hiking to Hayden's Peak with his Scout Troop, where he was able to lace his name with others who accomplished the task. Alfred graduated from High School in 1947 and worked a short time in Construction while taking his Accounting courses. After completion of the Accounting he was hired to work at the Bank in Coalville, Utah. While employed at the Bank he married Norma Hoffman of Randolph, Utah in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on February 2, 1950. Within a couple of years of his hire and marriage they moved to Randolph, Utah where Alfred worked on his Father-in-law’s Ranch, milked cows and managed the Creamery just south of Randolph. In 1960 Alfred was promoted to Branch Manager with Cream O’Weber Dairy and moved the family to Evanston, Wyoming. To this union 4 children, Diana, Duane, Rodney, and Cindy were born. They were later divorced.
In 1967 Alfred was remarried to Cheryle Orth. To this union 4 more children were born, Charlie, Lisa, and a set of twins, Jennifer and Stephanie. In 1977 Alfred was transferred to Salt Lake City, where 2 more children, Travis and Amber were born making a total of 6 children to this union. Alfred and Cheryle also finished raising the older children. Alfred and Cheryle were later divorced.
He ran a wholesale route for nearly a year in Salt Lake City before being promoted to Institutional Sales Manager for Cream O’Weber. He was always busy, always on task, always focused on what he needed to get done, and was the first million dollar salesman. After 38 years of devotion to his work he retired from Cream O’Weber Dairy. He enjoyed watching football, spending time with his beloved Inga, and his weekend breakfast with his family.
He is survived by 10 children, Diana (Roger) Coles of Afton, Wyoming; Duane (Marla) Brown of Wellsville, Utah; Rodney (Darla) Brown of Kelseyville, California; Cindy Combs of Salt Lake City, Utah; Charlie Brown of Ft. Bridger, Wyoming; Lisa Brown Aimone of Jacksonville, Florida; Jennifer (Garth) Stringer of Mtn View, Wyoming; Stephanie (Kyle) Hunter (D) of Jacksonville, Florida; Travis (Summer) Brown of Mtn View, Wyoming; Amber Brown of Jacksonville, Florida; 25 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Joy Hlavaty, one grandson Keith Combs, one great grandson Carter Andus, and his beloved Inga Gendorf.
A family memorial service will be held in the Spring where his ashes will be interred at the Coalville, Utah Cemetery.
