Our dear sweet angel mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and Great Great Grandmother, Afton Campbell Welling passed away peacefully at her home on August 31, 2021.

Mom was born July 29th, 1930 to Hyrum A. and Ivie P. Campbell in Providence, Utah. Mom was raised in Cache Valley, Utah, where she loved roller skating, ice skating, playing softball, and working in the bakery. Mom graduated from Logan High School. She met her eternal companion Don U. Welling in Logan, Utah, they were married on June 29th,1949 at the Logan LDS Temple. They were blessed with 12 wonderful children.

Mom was a lifetime active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and served faithfully in all of her various callings, including Relief Society, Primary, and the Young Womens. She was a great example of Christ like service to everyone that she met.

Mom was an excellent seamstress, making many Prom dresses, beautiful Wedding /Temple dresses, blessing and baptismal clothing. If anyone needed something sewn, hemmed or patched, she could do it. Mom was a fantastic cook, baker, and could even make leftovers scrumptious.

Mom loved watching her children and grandchildren in their many endeavors, school plays, football, wrestling, basketball, cheerleading, dance and especially going to Casper and watching the State events. Mom was one of the biggest Utah Jazz fans, and rarely missed a game.

Mom worked for the Uinta County School District in the food service for many years, where she made many lifelong friends.

Mom loved any family gatherings on holidays, family reunions, or any other activity that would bring her family together. She especially loved having everyone gather on Sunday evenings at her home, where she always had a special treat including ice cream.

Afton is survived by her children Calvin (Kathy) Welling, Washington, Utah, Diane (Curtis) Rex, Daughter in law Christine Sanders Welling, Brian (Kellie) Welling, Jean (Dave) Anderson, Jill (Jim) Smith, David (Wendy) Welling, Gary (Stacey) Welling, all of Evanston, WY, Janet (Steve) Alkire, of Cheyenne, WY, Mikal (Jenny) Welling of Evanston, Wy. She is also survived by 88 grandchildren, 175 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren, we hope we didn’t miss anyone!

Mom is also survived by sisters Joyce Redd, North Logan, Utah, and Carol (Darrell) Noble of Amalga, UT.

Mom was preceded in death by her eternal companion Don U. Welling, her parents, an infant daughter, another daughter and son in law Susan (Mike) Lake, son Brad D. Welling. Grandchildren Zachary Brian Welling, Melissa Anderson, and Jamedon Mikal Welling. Great grandchildren Jaxon Kaholoaa. Her brothers, Max Campbell, Dean Campbell, Lyle Campbell, and sister Donna Croshaw.

There will be a viewing held in her honor Friday September 3rd, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at 201 Sage Street LDS Church, and Saturday 4th, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. till 10:45 a.m.

Her funeral will be held Saturday September 4th, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at 201 Sage Street LDS Church

Interment will be at the Evanston City Cemetery .
